{"id":176,"date":"2011-12-25T21:43:01","date_gmt":"2011-12-25T21:43:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southernstarssymphonicbrass.com\/?p=176"},"modified":"2012-01-11T14:30:30","modified_gmt":"2012-01-11T14:30:30","slug":"presidents-patriots-concert-set-for-feb-12-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southernstarssymphonicbrass.com\/?p=176","title":{"rendered":"Presidents &#038; Patriots concert set for Feb. 12, 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Southern Stars will be performing their 2nd concert of the Crossville Music Series on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 3:30 pm at Stone Memorial HS Auditorium led by conductor, Dr. Steven Sudduth. \u00a0 Maestro Sponsor for this concert is Gordon Atchley, of Farm Bureau Insurance, and the 2011\/2012 Season Sponsor is Bed &amp; Biscuit Kennel.\u00a0 The theme of the concert is <strong>Presidents &amp; Patriots<\/strong>, in line with the date of the concert being President Abraham Lincoln&#8217;s birthday and the proximity of President&#8217;s Day.\u00a0\u00a0 The music has been selected to include patriotic music and other selections that have connections to the eras of US Presidents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Black <\/strong>will be appearing as guest artist for this concert via agreement with the Cumberland County Playhouse, where he has been an active performer\/actor for 16 years.\u00a0 Daniel will be narrating Aaron Copland&#8217;s moving &#8220;Lincoln&#8217;s Portrait&#8221; with accompaniment by the Southern Stars Symphonic Brass.\u00a0\u00a0 In addition, Daniel will be the featured vocalist for the ever popular &#8220;Bill Bailey&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The full program for this concert is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>President&#8217;s<\/strong> march<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lincoln Portrait<\/strong> &#8230;&#8230;..Daniel Black as narrator<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sandpaper Ballet<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bandinage<\/strong>&#8230;&#8230;tuba solo, Sean Greene<\/li>\n<li><strong>Summon the Heroes<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bill Bailey<\/strong>&#8230;&#8230;.vocal by Daniel Black<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>INTERMISSION<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>William Tell Overture&#8230;&#8230;.<\/strong>featuring our percussion section<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shennadoah<\/strong>&#8230;&#8230;euphonium solo, Brandon Jones<\/li>\n<li><strong>Solid Men to the Front<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Tijuana Brass selections<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>American Salute<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tickets for the concert are $18 for Adults, and $5 for Students.\u00a0\u00a0 A special &#8220;short season&#8221; ticket will be available for $30 which gives admission to both this concert and the April 21 final concert of the season.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Tickets will be available in advance by Jan. 13 at the following locations:\u00a0 (1) First National Bank of TN locations in Crossville and Fairfield Glade, TN, (2) Cumberland Eye Care, Dr. Stuart Galloway in Fairfield Glade, (3) Bed &amp; Biscuit Kennel off Peavine Rd., and (4) Cumberland Co.
