The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass (SSSB) will provide their second concert of their Crossville Concert Series on Sunday, February 10 at 3 pm at the Stone Memorial High School auditorium<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the proximity to the official Valentine Day of Feb. 14, the ensemble has prepared a variety of music appropriate for the theme of A Valentine Gift. <\/strong>So grab your significant other and come to hear this outstanding 30-piece instrumental, professional ensemble\u2019s concert program of selections that should have you snugging a little closer and maybe even holding hands with your date!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following selections will be performed:
“The Beau Ideal” – Sousa march
“La Virgin de la Macarena” – featuring principal cornet soloist Kathryn Adduci<\/a> (current interim Trumpet professor at TTU)
“Sunrise Over the Blue Ridge”
“Believe Me With All Your Endearing Young Charms” – featuring a euphonium duet by Briana Engelbert – Vogt and Austin Vogt
“National Emblem March”
“Someone to Watch Over Me”
“American Salute” by Morton Gould
“Sweet Georgia Brown”
“Barn Dance and Cowboy Hymn”
“Can’t Buy Me Love” – the great Beatles hit
“Cheek to Cheek” – an Irving Berlin classic
“Bonnie Annie Laurie” – Sousa march
selections from “My Fair Lady”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets for this concert will be available on Jan. 14 at the following locations:  On Its Way<\/strong> store in the Fairfield Glade Village Mall,  First National Bank of Tennessee<\/strong> branches in Crossville and Fairfield Glade, and Bed & Biscuit Kennel<\/strong> off of Peavine Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adults tickets are $22 and Student tickets are $5.<\/strong> A “Short Season” ticket for this concert and the Sunday, April 28 concert is bargain-priced at $35, a $7 savings versus purchasing individual tickets and allows for a ticket exchange if you need to miss a concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SSSB concert on April 28 theme is Across the Pond<\/strong>

The last concert of the 2018\/2019 subscription series by the Southern Stars Symphonic Brass will be on Sunday, April 28 at 3 pm at Stone Memorial High School in Crossville. The concert will feature music from European countries of the UK, Scotland, Norway, Austria, France, Ireland, and Italy.<\/g><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the full program is not fully designed at this time, selections may include: Dambusters March,  Lord of the Rings, Hey Jude, It’s Not Unusual… all from the UK;  Valdres march from Norway; Cossack march from Russia; Birewegge Polka and Rondo Allegretto (Mozart) from the Weber Clarinet Concerto –  the latter performed on trumpet by our principal cornet Kathryn Adduci (with Mozart representing Austria!). April in Paris from France;  ‘Neath Dublin Skies – a euphonium solo by principal euphonium Briana Engelbert-Vogt, and An Irish Blessing\u2014both from Ireland; and La Danza from Italy.

Ticket prices for adults are $22 and Students are admitted FREE<\/strong>.

The Cumberland County Playhouse has invited the SSSB to perform on May 25, with a program themed <\/strong>Big Band to Broadway.<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass (SSSB) have been engaged for a return encore performance of a Playhouse Mainstage<\/a> concert on Saturday, May 25 at 7:30pm. The SSSB performed a sold-out concert at the Playhouse in May of 2018 to an extremely appreciative audience that featured exclusively big band swing and jazz music.<\/g><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A very well-received CD & DVD were both made of this live concert, Jazzing at the Playhouse<\/strong>, which has received excellent reviews by patrons or both the CD and DVD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the coming May 25 concert, the theme is Big Band to Broadway<\/strong> and all selections will be different from the 2018 concert. The full program has not been decided yet, but selections being considered include<\/g>:<\/g><\/g><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Broadway selections:
Bring Him Home (from Les Miserables)
Porgy & Bess selections
Showboat selections
Evermore from Beauty & the Beast
Wicked selections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Big band and jazz selections being considered include:
The Peanut Vendor
American Patrol
Birdland
In a Sentimental Mood
Way Down Yonder in New Orleans<\/g><\/g><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets will be sold by the Cumberland County Playhouse<\/a> only<\/em><\/strong> and they are priced at $25. This will likely be a sold-out performance, so folks are encouraged to order their tickets online or contact the Playhouse Box Office soon to ensure seating.
