These talented musicians include university music professors, secondary music educators, and accomplished performers, all coming together to deliver an extraordinary symphonic brass concert under the direction of <strong>Dr. Steven Sudduth<\/strong>, who has led the ensemble for 15 seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, the band has had members go onto win <a href=\"https:\/\/www.charlottesymphony.org\/about\/musicians\/?musician=C5ADEB0E-753B-4B05-840A-B0C20A022AAA\" target=\"_blank\">tenured, principal positions with professional symphony orchestras<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.music.af.mil\/Home\/Biographies\/Display\/Article\/1308303\/brandon-jones\/\" target=\"_blank\">win auditions and are now performing with premier United States Military Bands<\/a>, and win scholarships for advanced degrees at the very best music schools in the world, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juilliard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">the famed Juilliard School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Enjoy the standard \u201cCute,\u201d featuring our own Kurt Snider playing the famous drum solo with brushes on the Mainstage at the Great American Brassband Festival<\/3><\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CF3j3c6kYDg?si=iXsYmpAe-DC2lsHK\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4>The Southern Stars have featured and backup up some of the biggest names in the brass world<\/4><\/p>\n<p>The Southern Stars have been honored to have guest artists appear with the band, both during the regular season series in Crossville, Tennessee, as well as at brass festivals at the University of Tennessee and on the Main Stage at the renowned <a href=\"https:\/\/gabbf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Great American Brass Band Festival<\/a>, that has taken place on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centre.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">beautiful campus of the historic Centre College<\/a>, and around the college\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/danvillekentucky.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">picturesque hometown of Danville, Kentucky<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DNM98wQ-qAs?si=9AwbeVYRXKhlcZ6B\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Richardson was not only a consummate professional, interacting with all the members of the band in our one rehearsal, he was dazzling on stage and the performances with Richardson were very well-received by the largest of crowds at the festival, with many requests to buy the Southern Star CDs from the vendor area immediately following the performance.<\/p>\n<p><!--\n\n\n<h2><strong>Next Concert: Sunday, May 4, 2025 a 3 p.m. Central<strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The Southern Stars final performance of their 17th Season will feature a delightful mix of musical selections guaranteed to entertain audiences of all ages, plus two special, guest vocalists!
