Southern Stars to Open 18th Season on Sunday, Sept. 21<\/span><\/h1>\n
The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass (SSSB) present their initial concert, titled “Best of Brass”<\/b>, on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 3pm. The concerts henceforth are going to be held in the brand new, 1200-seat auditorium at Cumberland County High School, located off of Miller By-pass at 660 Stanley St. in Crossville. It is very straightforward and convenient to drive to CCHS if coming from Peavine Road.\u00a0 Just cross over I-40 and continue straight through the roundabout, stay on Miller By-pass until you see CCHS on the left with their full size “Blue Angel” jet in front of the school.<\/div>\n

The SSSB has been recognized by the TN State legislature with the honor of being named the \u201cOfficial Brass Band of Tennessee.\u201d <\/b>This honor was designated because of the SSSB’s financial and in-kind contributions to the Cumberland Co. school system’s fine arts programs; their national recognition via invitation to perform at the Great American Brass Band Festival on three occasions; their donations to support local charitable nonprofits such as Hospice, Bread of Life Ministries, House of Hope, Avalon, and CASA; and their “Premium Entertainment” concert programs for which their audiences give rave ratings.<\/div>\n

For the Sept. 21, 2025 concert,\u00a0Best of Brass<\/b>, their program will showcase the diversity of music variety for which they have become known. “Land of Freedom<\/b>”\u00a0<\/b>will open the concert with a march by the retired former arranger of the US Marine Band – Stephen Bulla; “Simple Gifts” –<\/b> the well known hymn; “Circle of Life”<\/b> theme from Disney’s Lion King; Gustav Holst’s\u00a0 “Jupiter”\u00a0<\/b>from his classic composition of “The Planets”; “Gabriel’s Oboe”\u00a0<\/b>from the Movie “Mission; the themes from the original movie “Wizard of Oz”; “Let There\u00a0 Be Light”\u00a0<\/b>a rousing selection typical of contemporary Brass band compositions; “Lullaby of Birdland”<\/b> flugelhorn solo by TTU professor Chris McCormick; “Explosion Polka”\u00a0<\/b>by Strauss; the Latin flavor of “Tico, Tico”<\/b>, and the finish with everyone’s favorite\u00a0“When the Saints Go Marching In”.<\/b><\/div>\n

Advance tickets are currently available at:
\nFirst National Bank of TN branches in Crossville and Fairfield Glade (Food\u00a0 City), and at Atlas Realty in the Village Mall in Fairfield Glade. <\/p>\n

Ticket prices have been unchanged for 10 seasons with a single Adult at $22, and students admitted FREE. Season tickets for the three concert series are a savings at $50.<\/p>\n

The other concerts are on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 3pm, and Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 3pm. If a season ticket patron has to miss one of the concerts, they can exchange that ticket for an additional one to another concert.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
