Southern Stars to Present Free Christmas Concerts on Nov. 17

The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass, a 30 piece professional instrumental brass ensemble, is celebrating their 5th anniversary season of providing their brand of “Premium Entertainment” concerts which are normally paid admission concerts.   Concert goers have given rave reviews of the outstanding quality of the musicians and the music selections they present   As a way to thank their audience and business sponsors for their support during this period of time, the Southern Stars musicians will present two FREE  concerts as a gift to the community .  The concerts are on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Fairfield Glade Community Church which is located at 521 Snead Rd. in Fairfield Glade, TN.   The concert is themed as Brassy Christmas, and will feature music of the Holidays and Christmas season.

Artistic Director & Founder of the SSSB, Dwight Wages, and Music Director, Dr. Steven Sudduth, have selected music which will cover favorites from the Holiday season.  The concert will be one hour in length and will send you home filled with the enjoyment of great music by this professional ensemble which is recognized as one of the best of this type in North America.  Concert selections are:
  1. Christmas Festival by Leroy Anderson
  2. Christmas Song (Chestnuts  Roasting)……Chris McCormick, flugelhorn soloist
  3. On Christmas Day (march)
  4. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
  5. Three Kings Swing
  6. White Christmas
  7. Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson
  8. Go Tell it on the Mountain (swing arrangement)
  9. Frosty the Snowman …..tuba and bass trombone soloists, Stuart Henry and Chuck Lyons
  10. Silent Night
  11. Christmas Rejoicing (march)

Since the concert is free to the public, the Southern Stars expect that the audience for the concert will exceed the 450 seat capacity of the church.   Therefore, the musicians have agreed to provide two concerts (same music selections at each concert) in order to allow as many people as possible to attend and hear this stellar brass band.   One concert will be be at 4:30 pm and the second will be at 7pm.

Because of the expected audience, a ticket voucher will need to be obtained in order to guarantee a seat at the concert and to maximize seating utilization.   These ticket vouchers can only be obtained by the general public at the following locations:   Cumberland Eye Care (Dr. Stuart Galloway offices) on Peavine Road in Fairfield Glade,   and at the Palace Theater on Main Street in Crossville.  Tickets will be available to pickup beginning on October 22. To insure that the seating is maximized and available to as many as whom would like to hear the Southern Stars, the following procedure will be in place:   (1)  only 4 tickets vouchers can be picked up by a single person,   (2) Only take tickets for a single concert…….so make a decision on which you want to attend,  (3)  If you take tickets, please use them.   If you later find you can not use them…………contact Dwight Wages at 484-6939, to inform him so the seats can be released to others who want to attend, and  (4)  You need to be in your seats 10 minutes prior to the concert.   At that time, they will allow people without vouchers to take any open seats.
