Southern Stars Symphonic Brass brings together approximately 30 accomplished musicians from throughout Tennessee and the surrounding region, including musicians from Crossville, Fairfield Glade, Knoxville, Cookeville, Nashville, Murfreesboro, Tullahoma and Clarksville, as well as Huntsville, Alabama. and the conductor commmutes from Michigan!
The ensemble includes university music professors, professional and secondary music educators, accomplished performers and highly skilled amateur musicians who share a passion for brass music and live performance.
The result is an ensemble capable of delivering both the subtlety of a classical chamber performance and the spectacular power of a full symphonic brass band.

The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass Band has developed a reputation for presenting high-quality performances featuring some of the finest brass musicians in the region.
Under the direction of Dr. Steven Sudduth, who has led the ensemble for many seasons, Southern Stars musicians have performed at major brass festivals and cultural events throughout the region.
Over the years, members of the ensemble have gone on to earn tenured and principal positions with professional symphony orchestras, perform with premier United States military bands and pursue advanced music degrees at some of the world’s most prestigious music schools.
That level of musical experience is part of what makes a Southern Stars concert such a remarkable experience.
Featuring Guest Artists and Special Performances
Southern Stars has also had the privilege of performing with outstanding guest artists from the world of brass music and beyond.
The ensemble has appeared at major brass events, including performances at the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, Kentucky, as well as brass festivals and special events associated with the University of Tennessee.
Guest artists have included some of the most respected performers in the brass world, giving local audiences opportunities to hear nationally and internationally recognized musicians without traveling to a major metropolitan concert venue.
