Southern Stars to Give a Free admission “Holiday Brass” Christmas Concert to Support Charities

On Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3 PM, the Southern Stars Symphonic Brass (SSSB) will be giving a FREE admission concert of Christmas and Holiday music in the 1200-seat auditorium of Stone Memorial High School in Crossville, TN. The SSSB is a 30-musician-strong professional instrumental music ensemble that has been providing a series of concerts for the past 17 years.

Southern Stars Brass BandThe musicians come from middle and eastern Tennessee locations such as Clarksville, Nashville, Murfreesboro, Tullahoma, Cookville, Crossville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville for rehearsals and concerts in Crossville. The guest conductor for this concert will be Frank Hale from the Chattanooga area. Frank is a well-known conductor who founded the Jericho Brass Band of Chattanooga and led that group for 25 years.

Normally the Southern Stars perform concerts for an admission charge, but for this special concert, they waive the admission fee and welcome the audience for a concert of familiar Christmas and Holiday music.

A free-will offering will be taken to collect support for two charitable groups that provide much needed services in the Crossville area: Cumberland House and the House of Hope. Hospice of Cumberland County’s residential hospice facility is called Cumberland House.

Cumberland House provides end-of-life care for terminally ill patients in a homelike setting when they can no longer remain in their home. They also provide respite and symptom management care when necessary.

The House of Hope is a short-term care facility providing care and services for drug-endangered, abused, and at-risk children of Cumberland County and other nearby Tennessee counties.

The Southern Stars hopes to have a full house for this concert as the music will be appreciated by all ages, and the proceeds from the free-will offering will be a significant gift to the above agencies.
